Veterinary Euthanasia at Home
In- home euthanasia is the same as euthanasia in the vet’s office. Typically, the process involves two injections of powerful and effective anesthetizing medications. The first medication to be delivered is a strong sedative. This allows your pet to relax, minimizing all discomfort associated with any illness they may be experiencing.
It takes approximately 10 minutes for the medicine to painlessly work its way through your pet’s system, during which time you may comfort, hold, and sooth them. After the sedative takes effect, your pet will be very sleepy and may possibly appear to be asleep. The second injection will then be delivered. This medicine is usually a mixture of barbiturates that work to slow, and then stop the heart as they pass away in peace .

Coping with the death of a beloved pet is difficult for everyone involved. The objective of veterinary euthanasia at home for dogs and cats is to make this difficult transition easier for both people and pets.
Like many of us, our pets prefer their last moments to be in the comfort of their homes, surrounded by all the sights, smells, sounds, and people they love. The stress of a car ride, waiting room, and cold, steel exam table aren’t what they want to experience in their last moments with you. At home your pet can pass peacefully in their most comfortable spot—including on the couch, your bed, in the yard, in your arms, or on your lap.
While the end of their life may be made difficult due to illness, you can help ease their stress and fear by choosing veterinary euthanasia at home for dogs and cats.
